Switch Xmodem Upgrade

Problem:
Switch Crashed with no IOS image and the Following prompt

switch: boot

Loading “flash:c3750-ipbase-mz.122-35.SE5/c3750-ipbase-mz.122-35.SE5.bin”…flash:c3750-ipbase-mz.122-35.SE5/c3750-ipbase-mz.122-35.SE5.bin: no such file or directory

Error loading “flash:c3750-ipbase-mz.122-35.SE5/c3750-ipbase-mz.122-35.SE5.bin”

Interrupt within 5 seconds to abort boot process.

Boot process failed…switch: version

Solution
Step 1: Unplug the Power and Restart, Keep the Mode button Pressed until you get  the following:

 

switch:

Base ethernet MAC Address: 00:25:84:d0:d4:00
Xmodem file system is available.
The password-recovery mechanism is enabled.

 The system has been interrupted prior to initializing the flash filesystem.  The following commands will initialize the flash filesystem, and finish loading the operating system software:
    flash_init
    load_helper
    boot

Initialise the Flash :

switch: flash_init

Initializing Flash…
flashfs[0]: 3 files, 1 directories
flashfs[0]: 0 orphaned files, 0 orphaned directories
flashfs[0]: Total bytes: 15998976
flashfs[0]: Bytes used: 5632
flashfs[0]: Bytes available: 15993344
flashfs[0]: flashfs fsck took 8 seconds.

…done Initializing Flash.

Boot Sector Filesystem (bs) installed, fsid: 3
Setting console baud rate to 9600…
switch:

Issue the load_helper command in order to load any boot helper images.

Start HyperTerm with settings:

  • Bits per second: 9600
  • Data bits: 8
  • Parity: None
  • Stop bits: 1
  • Flow control: None

Issue the Set BAUD command

switch: set BAUD 115200

Restart Hyperterm with the bits at 115200

switch: copy xmodem: flash:c3750-ipbase-mz.122-35.SE5.bin

Begin the Xmodem or Xmodem-1K transfer now…

File “xmodem:” successfully copied to “flash:c3750-ipbase-mz.122-35.SE5.bin”

If you don’t Issue the set BAUD command and use the Default settings it will take approx 2 hours to complete

switch: copy xmodem: flash:c3750-ipbase-mz.122-35.SE5.bin

Begin the Xmodem or Xmodem-1K transfer now…

Set the Baud back to 9600

switch: set BAUD 9600

Restart HyperTerm
