Configuring a Phone Image

Step 1: Image
Create a image with the following size:

Phone                 Image Size        TFTP Path
7941/7961       320×196           Desktops/320x196x4
7942/7962       320×196           Desktops/320x196x4
7945/7965       320×212           Desktops/320x212x16
7975                    320×216           Desktops/320x216x16
7970/7971      320×212           Desktops/320x212x12

The Thumbnail image is the above divided by 4.  This example is of a 7945, so the thumbnail image is 320/4=80, 212/4=53

tip:
You can use ImRe to resize the image 🙂

Step 2: Download XML File from CUCM

on the CUCM OS, navigate to “TFTP File Management” and search for Desktops (directory)

my result showed “Desktops/640x480x24”

on your PC enter the following command

C:>tftp 192.168.103.20 get Desktops640x480x24List.xml
Transfer successful: 1747 bytes in 1 second(s), 1747 bytes/s

C:>

 Step 3: edit file

edit the file by replacing the location to be Desktops/320x212x16/ and add new Image name

<CiscoIPPhoneImageList>
<ImageItem Image=”TFTP:Desktops/320x212x16/new_Image_thumb.png” URL=”TFTP:Desktops/320x212x16/new_image_large.png“/>
</CiscoIPPhoneImageList>

Step 4

save + upload XML and Images to TFTP

Step 5
Restart TFTP Service

Please note this has not been fully tested, let me know if you have any issues

  1. another way to download the Phone Image is via SFTP, via the CUCM Cli interface to view files, type
    “file view activelog /cm/tftpdata/Desktops/320x212x12/*”

    to download the entire folder:
    “file get activelog /cm/tftpdata/Desktops/320x212x12/*”

    I would recommend FreeFTPd as the SFTP server
